Leaf Peeping – My Favorite Spot

This time of year when there is a nip of fall in the air, I think of the beautiful mountains and the colors of the leaves as we move into winter. We have traveled to Cherokee, Asheville, Blowing Rock  and even Hendersonville in the fall of the year to look at the leaves.  However, my favorite area is Jefferson, NC up through Hillsville Va. The leaves usually reach their peak there around the third week in October.  This year we are going to visit the area on Saturday.  The area isn’t that commercial and the rolling hills and small farms are so pretty.  Here is a link to the Hillsville, Va Website:

If you go to this area of the mountains, along with buying apples and pumpkins, I highly recommend that you buy a cabbage.  This is a tradition for me every year and we enjoy the cabbage we purchase because of its firmness and freshness.

Of Course, you will need reservations, but I highly recommend that you visit Shatley Springs Restaurant near Jefferson for lunch or dinner.  That would make your day extra special.  Here is a link to their website:

Happy weekend everyone.
