Ham Biscuits – South Carolina First Lady Cookbook

I have made these rolls or biscuits as they are called in this recipe.  The small Pepperidge Farm party rolls make this recipe so good.

Ham Biscuits or Rolls

1 pound boiled ham, cut in very small pieces ( deli style ham)

1/2 pound Swiss cheese, grated

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

3 tablespoons poppy seeds

3 tablespoons prepared mustard

1 small onion minced

1 stick margarine, softened

4 packages (12 pack) Pepperidge Farm party rolls

Mix together the worcestershire sauce, poppy seed, mustard, onion and  margarine.  Remove rolls from packages and cut open.  Put boiled ham on the bottom portion of each roll.  Add one teaspoon of the combined mixture to each roll.  Sprinkle the grated swiss cheese on top.  Put top portion on rolls and place them back in the trays. Cover with foil and freeze.  Defrost and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes.

I have seen these made before and people have used brown and serve rolls.  If that is the only thing available, they should be fine.  However, the texture of the party rolls make them so good.  It is also worth the effort to combine the above items to make the sauce for each roll.

It is good to have these frozen and you can defrost and cook them on a moments notice.
