Three Reasons Why I Love Living in the Old North State

Today, I am sharing three North Carolina Icons (Written by Michael Graff for Our State Magazine)

Cheerwine – A wonderful carbonated beverage manufactured in Salisbury, NC.  This beverage has been sampled by two of our presidents, George W. Bush, Sr and Dwight Eisenhower.  (I have heard of people shipping this drink all over the world)

Live Oaks (Trees) – Look at one from the outside, you’ll see a portrait of the South.  Sit beneath the branches awhile, you’ll see the back of your eyelids.  (They are called live oaks because they never lose their leaves)

Linn Cove Viaduct (A roadway) – Made in 153 segments, all but one of which is curved.  When it was finished in 1987, it completed the marriage between the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain.

And that is three reasons why, I love calling North Carolina home.
